Egypt’s Second Water Sports Expo came to a triumphant close with a gathering of sailors, boaters, water skiers, and beach goers having a wonderful time on the beach and on the water. The April gorgeous weather treated everyone to a delightful weekend.

The four-day event drew water sports enthusiasts from across Egypt. All types of people joined the fun on the beach enjoying displays of water sports equipment and a variety of entertainment. From powerboats to sailboats, from jet skis to ATVs, visitors to the Water Sports Expo could see, try, and buy equipment that suited their outdoor activities. It was the ultimate water sports playground.

The Expo, organized by David Megalli, DM Sailing Centre and Rowais Abdel-Shahid, Vision Trading, brought together 15 Egyptian-owned water sports businesses with powerboats, marine equipment, chandlery, jet skis, ATVs, sail boats, catamarans, zodiacs, boat engines, and beach toys. An original supporter of the Expo, Sports & Fitness Magazine provided complementary issues of their magazine to visitors. The Expo highlighted the potential of water sports activities in Egypt and served as a means of inspiring youth to become more active in outdoor sports.

There was something for everyone. Visitors entertained themselves with the many choices of water sports equipment. Members of Dome Marina Sailing Centre took to their boats for some fun racing competition. Sherif Asfoury showed us how to plane like the wind across the Red Sea waters in his largest production catamaran, the Hobie Cat 21. Meanwhile back at the beach, guests visiting the Expo were delighted to have a go at sea kayaking or trying wetsuits and water toys.

Commenting on this Second Water Sports Expo, the organizers said “The 2012 Expo has been a resounding success. More than 200 people attended and we experienced a refreshing break from current stresses and inspired many different levels of water sports.“

All the exhibitors at the Expo are grateful for the support from different organisations, fans, and members of the public who supported the event and helped spread the word about the show.
